I was delighted to bring the Rt Hon James Cleverly MP to Gravitilab on the Scottow Enterprise Park in Broadland to see the innovative work that they’re doing as part of the UK’s rapidly growing space sector!
Gravitilab are democratising access to space and making it more accessible to academics, governments, and businesses. By providing lower-cost and lower-emissions access to micro-gravity environments as well as Space itself, businesses and other organisations will be able to test their designs for longer periods of time, and more sustainably, with Gravitilab’s suborbital launch vehicle producing 75% fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to similar vehicles.
We were given a full tour of Gravitilab’s facility and were able to see how a recent grant from the UK Space Agency enabled the company to complete their new Electronics Lab ahead of schedule, bringing the capability to develop systems to be used in Space in-house, allowing Gravitilab to provide these services to other companies in the UK’s rapidly growing space sector.
The Government is committed to the UK’s thriving space industry, which is aiming to capture 10% of the global space market by 2030, which will provide highly paid, skilled jobs to workers in addition to the over 48,000 people already employed in the sector, boosting local economies in areas such as Broadland. The UK space industry now brings £17.5bn into the UK economy, and continues to grow, with over 1,590 businesses in the sector.
