I visited PSH Environmental Ltd in Rackheath, a family run business for over 40 years, to meet Nigel & Daniel Parker to see the £8 million of investment in innovative technology they have spent to fulfil their ‘zero waste to landfill’ commitment. This investment includes pioneering the only fully solar-powered shredder in the world and bespoke sorting methods which allow aggregates, soil, wood, green waste, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cardboard, municipal waste, commercial waste and plastics to be sustainably processed on site. The site has 798 solar panels, generating 1,400 kilowatts of energy per day and is a net contributor to the UK energy grid.
