Jerome Mayhew MP speaking in the debate on Levelling Up in the East of England:
Levelling Up can often be described as being about boosting economic prosperity in the north. However, this is misleading. Instead, levelling up must be about ensuring our rural towns and villages are able to keep pace with cities across the United Kingdom.
We need to boost the East of England by utilising connectivity in all of its forms - mobile phone coverage, broadband, road and rail improvements. Taken together, improving these various things will help support prosperity in rural towns and villages in Broadland and right across Norfolk.
The Government is listening to these calls and I am looking forward to the levelling up white paper in the coming few weeks.
