I am so so so thrilled to hear that the Down Syndrome Bill, introduced by my colleague Dr Liam Fox MP, will become law.
Dr Liam Fox has worked tirelessly to get this through and has reached right across all parties in both Houses of Parliament to get the support for this to progress.
This Bill will be pivotal in helping to de-stigmatise Down syndrome and improve lives for those who have it as well as the families and friends who help support them to be independent.
We're living in an era where, for the first time, many people with Down syndrome will now outlive their parents. This Bill will help to deal with these future issues and ensure long term care can be radically improved to help these people when they come to need further support.
My thanks to Dr Liam Fox MP, and all of the tireless campaigners, who have worked so hard to get this through and transform the lives of people with Down's syndrome in my own constituency.
